Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 September 2026

This privacy policy explains how Robert Spencer ("I", "me", "my"), trading as Robert Spencer, of 25 Priory Road, Gedling, Nottinghamshire, NG4 3JZ, collects, uses and protects information when you visit robertspencer.co.uk (the "site") or contact me through it. I am the data controller for the personal data described below.

Who I am

Robert Spencer is a sole trader providing electrical, general building and related trade services across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. You can contact me about this policy or any privacy question by email at website@robertspencer.co.uk or by phone on 07860 140439.

What information I collect

I collect information in two ways: information you give me directly, and information collected automatically as you browse the site.

  • Contact and enquiry details — when you use the contact form, or email, call or WhatsApp me, I may collect your name, phone number, email address, and the details of the job or enquiry you send me.
  • Usage data — when you browse the site, Google Analytics automatically collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP address), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site.

How I use your information

  • To respond to enquiries and provide quotes for electrical, building and related services.
  • To arrange and carry out work you have asked me to do.
  • To keep basic business and accounting records where required by law.
  • To understand how visitors use the site, so I can improve it, using aggregated and anonymised analytics data.

Contact form and Web3Forms

The contact form on this site is processed by Web3Forms, a third-party form-processing service that emails your submission to me. Web3Forms processes the information you submit (name, contact details and message) solely to deliver it to me and does not use it for its own marketing purposes. You can read Web3Forms' own privacy information at web3forms.com/privacy.

Google Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to help me understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages are popular and roughly how visitors found the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect this information, which may be shared with Google and processed in line with Google's Privacy Policy. IP addresses are anonymised where supported by Google Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using your browser's cookie and tracking controls.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device. This site uses cookies set by Google Analytics as described above. It does not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. Most browsers let you view, manage, delete and block cookies through their settings.

Legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, I rely on the following legal bases: legitimate interests (to respond to enquiries, run and improve the site, and keep basic business records), contract (where processing is necessary to quote for or carry out work you've asked for), and consent (for the contact form, where you tick the consent box before submitting, and for non-essential analytics cookies where required).

Who I share information with

I don't sell or rent your personal information. I share it only with the service providers needed to run this site and respond to enquiries — currently Web3Forms (form delivery), Google Analytics (site analytics) and Cloudflare (website hosting) — and, where relevant, with HM Revenue & Customs or my accountant for legal and accounting purposes, or with other authorities where required by law.

How long I keep information

Enquiry and job-related information is kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry or complete and account for the work, and in line with standard UK record-keeping requirements for a sole trader (generally up to six years for financial records). Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' own retention settings.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask for data to be deleted or its use restricted in certain circumstances, to object to certain processing, and to data portability where applicable. To exercise any of these rights, contact me at website@robertspencer.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults seeking tradesperson services and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time, for example if the services or tools used on the site change. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
