A fast internet connection is only as good as the cabling and hardware behind it. Robert installs structured Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a and Cat7 cabling for both domestic and commercial properties, so that fibre broadband, office networks and home working setups perform the way they're supposed to, rather than being throttled by old cabling, overloaded Wi-Fi or a router stuck in the wrong room.

This covers everything from a single extra data point in a home office to a full structured cabling installation and data cabinet for a commercial unit — plus Starlink installation for properties where standard broadband doesn't reach or isn't reliable enough, a job that's become increasingly common across the more rural parts of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire that Robert covers.

Larger structured cabling projects are sometimes carried out alongside Creative Filter's network wiring installation service, one of the businesses Robert regularly subcontracts for on Cat5/6 installs, Starlink setups and data points.

What's included

  • Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a and Cat7 structured network cabling
  • Data cabinet installation and tidy-up — domestic and commercial
  • Additional network and data points for home offices, studies and workshops
  • Getting the best out of fibre broadband — proper first/last-mile cabling instead of relying on Wi-Fi alone
  • Starlink satellite installation, including mounting and cable routing
  • Domestic and commercial installations, including offices, workshops and outbuildings

Why choose Robert for this

Most of the "my broadband is slow" calls Robert gets turn out to be a cabling or router-placement problem rather than the broadband itself. Sorting the physical network out properly — the right cable category, run the right way, into the right cabinet — fixes it for good rather than papering over it with another Wi-Fi extender.

Networking & Data Installations — FAQs

What's the difference between Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a cabling, and which do I need?

In short: Cat5e is the older standard and fine for basic use, Cat6 is the sensible default for most homes and offices today, and Cat6a (or Cat7) is worth it for higher-bandwidth commercial setups or future-proofing. Robert will recommend the right spec for your actual usage rather than always selling the most expensive option.

Can you install Starlink if normal broadband doesn't reach my property?

Yes. Starlink installation — including dish mounting, cable routing and connecting it into your home or office network — is a regular job, particularly for more rural properties across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire where fibre or cable broadband isn't an option.

Do you work on commercial networking as well as domestic?

Yes, both. Commercial jobs usually mean a data cabinet, structured cabling to multiple points, and tidy first-fix and second-fix work; domestic jobs are often one or two extra points for a home office or a smart TV. Robert handles both to the same standard.
